PTO Openings for the 2019-2020 School Year
PTO has a variety of opportunities for you to get involved in school activities. No matter what event catches your eye, you will not be left to figure it out on your own! We have fantastic directions of what needs to be done when and at least one person to help get you up and running. Want to get involved but not sure what would be a good fit for you? Just ask! We have opportunities to meet any time commitment.
Book Fair Coordinators: Book Fair is scheduled during parent teacher conferences in the fall and spring. Co-chairs coordinate with Scholastic to plan, decorate, and run the fair. At least one of the chairs needs to be available during the day.
Walkathon Committee: This committee is active in the late summer/ fall coordinating Horizon’s only direct-donation fundraiser. This committee needs a chairperson or co-chairs who can plan the event. Many people are available to assist with tasks!!
Fine Arts Night Coordinator: This person works with Horizon’s art teachers to provide volunteers for a craft project (if any) and a snack. This event happens in May.
Garden Committee: This committee will be responsible for maintaining the Learning Garden (East side of the building facing the playground) and the Butterfly Garden (middle of school near the cafeteria). In the past, these gardens were maintained by two parents. The goal would be to have a larger committee to make it a lighter workload for all. We are also seeing input from other sources (Master Gardeners, etc.)
